Introducing maestro: Beatoven.ai’s New Foundation Model

At Beatoven.ai, we’ve always been committed to making music creation accessible for content creators. Our journey began with a rule-based AI model, which was our first attempt to build an ethically trained music generator on a smaller dataset built in partnership with 100s of artists in 2021. We are proud of what was made possible with that technology, however, it had its limitations in terms of the output quality and diversity of music. Today, we’re thrilled to announce a major leap forward, the launch of maestro, our new foundation model for music.

maestro is a model capable of creating high quality background music and sound effects with text prompts. The model is trained on 100% licensed music datasets sourced from our dataset partners Rightsify, Soundtrack Loops, Symphonic Distribution, Bobby Cole, Vadi Sound, and Pro Sound Effects via Musical AI, ensuring its output is not only high-quality but also legally sound. This approach proves that it is possible to build a foundation model without scraping data for training. In contrast to other AI music licensing deals, this model will result in ongoing royalty payments to artists, composers, and rightsholders. With maestro, we’re building a sustainable music ecosystem by sharing our revenue with the rights holders for every output generated from the model.
